Periapical x-rays take images showing only one tooth, in greater detail. Showing a complete image from the crown to the root, periapical x-ray can also show beyond the root of the tooth down to where it connects to the jaw. This level of detail and depth is especially useful in detecting potential gum disease or issues surrounding the root and bone structure.
